Progressives Rally For Tamyra D’Ippolito
by director on Feb.15, 2010, under dissent
In a rotten attempt to steal the democratic process from the voters of Indiana, Senator Evan Bayh announced today that he will be calling off his re-election bid. It’s just one day before the deadline for candidates to submit petitions for the right to run in the Democratic primary.
Bayh’s timing is meant to ensure that rank and file Democratic voters in Indiana have no voice in who their own political party’s nominee will be. The state’s central Democratic Party insiders will get to appoint a nominee, and they’re expected to try to appoint Congressman Brad Ellsworth, a Blue Dog Democrat and protege of Bayh, who can continue Bayh’s record as the most right wing Democrat in the U.S. Senate.
Progressive Democratic challenger Tamyra D’Ippolito has until noon tomorrow to get 1,000 more signatures in support of her campaign. Expect this to be the hot political story tomorrow morning.

New Focal Point On Congress
by director on Jan.26, 2010, under Media, dissent
Gathering from multiple sources, the Skeptical Introduction to Congress doesn’t seem to be enjoying what it’s finding so far.
A Green Party candidate who may be teetering even before his campaign has begun; John Conyers talking tough with no action on FBI Spying; Congressman Zach Space having a fundraiser held for him by a nuclear energy company — these are not the stories that a satisfied citizen would have heard. For that reason, it’s important that we do hear them.
Thanks to this Skeptic – and keep the survey going.
The AntiMilitary That Doesn’t Exist
by director on Mar.08, 2009, under Peace, dissent
Here at Unconventional Sources, we specialize in linking to actual sources of information that exist around the edges of the web. We aren’t concerned with the popular and the trendy. We’re concerned with the backwaters of merit.
However, we do actually limit ourselves to linking to places that really exist. Usually.
Today, I want to provide a link in honor of a place that ought to, but does not, exist: AntiMilitary.org.
I don’t like the military. I don’t like the ideas that it stands for, and I don’t like what it does in actualization of those ideas.
But, when I went searching for sites that oppose the military, I couldn’t really find any. On a search on Google for “anti military”, for example, all I could find were sites where the writers accused other people of being “anti military”.
The closest I could find to a genuine anti military site was the Quaker Agitator.
Why are people so afraid to simply state that they don’t like the military? Why doesn’t antimilitary.org exist? Why shouldn’t it?
Progressives Against Obama
by director on Feb.13, 2009, under dissent
Unfortunately, it’s not a contradiction in terms. From his support of so-called “clean coal” to his continuation of faith-based initiatives, from his trickle-down stimulus package and his continuing Big Brother spying programs, Barack Obama is turning out to be rather anti-progressive in many of his policies.
Many progressive Americans are getting fed up. They expected something better from Barack Obama – that he would bring real change, and not just a slogan.
