Yesterday, Senator Herb Kohl called for a national role for outgoing U.S. Senator Russ Feingold. He said,
“He took a lot of unpopular positions over the years. Most notable was his sole opposition to the Patriot Act. He stood up for his ideals when it would have been easy to brush them aside. But that is the kind of person Russ is. He was never willing to sacrifice his principles to do the politically easy thing. Our country is safer because of his work… He leaves the Senate, but I hope he doesn’t leave public service. His character and intelligence are needed by his community, state and country.”
Will Herb Kohl be working to promote the involvement of Feingold’s character and intelligence on the national scene as a candidate for the U.S. Senate or as a presidential candidate?
Stay tuned!
Weeks ago I sent an e-mail to Feingold’s senate address urging him to run as an independent (even suggesting Ralph Nader for veep). I received a response stating that my message was received and that I should expect a reply soon.
Surely the man gets hate mail and pointless rambling messages. I doubt if everyone gets that response (especially non-Wisconsinites like me). Or maybe I’m reading too much into this.
FDR spelled backwards is RDF (Russell D. Feingold).
