Feingold Votes Against Tax Cuts For Billionaires

Russ Feingold has joined Vermont’s Bernie Sanders, and a small group of other United States Senators, to support true fiscal responsibility. Once yesterday and again today, Feingold has voted to block Barack Obama’s cave-in deal to help Republicans pass legislation that gives tax cuts to billionaires.

Explaining his votes, Feingold said, “The measure before us fails to make even the most modest effort to pay for these tax cuts. Instead, it heaps $900 billion onto an already mountainous level of debt that we are asking our children and grandchildren to bear. And much of this money will go towards unjustified tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.”

Thank you, Senator Feingold, for your continuing, consistent opposition to burden the middle class with efforts to redistribute wealth, taking money from working families and giving it to the filthy rich.

I also want to note that had Lyndon Johnson caved into the opposition over the Civil RIghts Act in 1964, Barack Obama would not be president today.
