Barack Obama has finally, definitively stated that he intends to work with Republicans in Congress to push through tax cuts for the rich, whether Democrats in Congress like it or not. What Democrats in Congress will do in response is not clear yet.
What Democratic voters will in response is quite clear, however. Their patience is exhausted. They will rebel against Barack Obama’s collaboration with Republicans to enact regressive legislation.
On Facebook, Liberals Against Obama has formed. Some voices from that group:
“I voted for Obama just like the rest of you, but there comes a time when we have to face reality. The reality is that Obama isn’t doing progressives, or more importantly the country, any good. We need a new FDR, but all we got was just another Hoover.”
“I’m even beginning to question his motives. That’s pretty serious for someone who was as enthusiastic as I was about him. I’m feeling awfully betrayed lately.”
“I’ve been trying to convince myself for a while that Obama is a really good chess player and that he’s 6 moves ahead of us, but it’s starting to look like he doesn’t know how to fight for what he believes in…It’s very sad.”
