Newt Gingrich, when he heard that peaceful Occupation Movement protesters were getting pepper sprayed by police officers across the country, didn’t seem to think it was a problem. He shouted out at the protesters, “Take a bath and get a job!”
Of course, Gingrich was ignoring the fact that tens of millions of working age Americans are out of a job because of the very same policies of economic inequality that Gingrich himself promotes.
But, even more important than that, there’s the question lingering in America’s mind: When was the last time that Newt Gingrich had a job? Gingrich hasn’t had a job in years! He’s been making himself rich by using the contacts he made back when he was in the U.S. House of Representatives. He’s been working with corporate lobbyists as a “consultant”… a power broker for the financial elites, the 1 Percent, helping the rich to get richer while everyone else gets screwed.
Newt Gingrich is the one who needs to take a bath. He was involved in the worst kind of dirty politics when he was Speaker of the House of Representatives back in the 1990s, peddling sleaze against his opponents, even while he was piling up so many ethics violations himself that Gingrich is the only Speaker of the House ever to receive a formal rebuke for unethical behavior.
