A quick link for you today: Read this letter from the chair of the Science and Technology Committee in the House of Representatives. It discusses a criminal cover up on the part of the Bush Administration’s officials in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Specifically, it seems that there is reason to believe that NASA is destroying all information about a survey of pilots taken in order to understand the quality of commercial airline safety. NASA Associate Administrator Thomas Luedtke has indicated that the information is being withheld from Congress, in violation of the Constitution, because the information “could materially affect the public confidence in, and the commercial welfare of, the air carriers and general aviation companies whose pilots participated in the survey”

Catch that. Bush Administration officials have information that they think would lead most Americans to conclude that commercial airlines are not safe. They are refusing to allow Congress to see that material, however, because they want to protect the ability of corporations to make money. They’re even committing a crime, destroying evidence, to protect those corporations, and keep the public in the dark about the lack of safety in commercial air travel.
