Grassroots Illinois News
Aug 29th, 2007 by director
This month, a true grassroots news project has begun over at Irregular News. Irregular News has been the center of a state-by-state progressive directory for many years now, and has relayed news gathered from other sources as well.
Now, however, Irregular News has begun to distribute its own news content, gathered from the very same organizations and sources of information that it includes in its progressive directory. The result is often news that the big wire services never get.
For example, Irregular News currently has two stories of activism in Illinois that haven’t gotten any attention at all in the big news media. One of about an anti-war vigil in Logan Square, Chicago. Another is about today’s trial of two activists and one independent journalist in Waukegan, Illinois, on charges stemming from a July 5th protest at a military facility.
Irregular News may not have all the facilities necessary to cover as much information as the big journalistic agencies, but they do bring information that you’re not likely to find anywhere else.
