Over at the progressive social networking site Care2, there’s a group dedicated to discussing the candidacy of Barack Obama for President in 2008. Lately, it seems that many group members there have become downright turned off from supporting Barack Obama.

One thread deals with disappointment that Barack Obama has abandoned his once-strong opposition to war in favor of the more typical Democratic refusal to commit to anything in particular, and pussy foot around the issue, supporting the continuation of the war, while whining about it.

Barack Obama, just another pro-war politician whiner? That’s disappointing indeed.

One Response to “Why Has Barack Obama Gone Wimpy on War?”

  1. Gary Yellen Says:

Have any of the Obama naysayers seen the New Vision of American Leadership speech delivered by Obama to the Council on Global Affairs on April 23, 2007? If this is going soft on Iraq, I don’t know what going hard on Iraq might mean to the overzealous on the left.
Text of the speech can be found on RealClearPolitics.com.
The problem with Obama is he is not yet enough of a campaigner to shove his ideas down throats, but he will be getting to it soon.

I think Obama in 2007 falls into the mistakes Edwards made in 2004–not being tough enough. As to Edwards, the gloves are off and the fun is about to begin. Nobody knows how to work a jury like John Edwards and get the result he desires. Winning the case. This time the American public is the jury. There is a reason he was voted the #8 best lawyer in the country when he was practicing law before entering politics.
